The Ultimate Morning Skin Care Routine That You Need To Follow

Start your morning slowly 1 avoid snoozing your alarm to prevent a mad morning rush! Mornings work better when you follow the same simple routine every day, slot in an easy morning skincare ritual to ease you into your day.

Wash your face-  Always wash your face in the morning. Overnight, skin renews and cell production increases so it’s always a good idea to remove any bacteria or impurities accumulated during the night. Cleansing skin first thing also wakes up tired skin and gives you a balanced base ready for the next step of your routine.

Choose the right cleanser for you – Gone are the days where cleaning your face involved a ten second process involving nothing fancier than a flannel and a bar of soap. To make the most of your skin care routine and to ensure you are addressing your individual skins concerns it’s important to find the correct products for you. There are so many cleanser options on the market, from foaming cleansers to milks and creams and oils, that it can often be a complete mind field. My favourite cleanser in the world is Liz Earle’s Cleanse and Polish £14.45 which is suitable for all skin types, it’s an indulgent cream which incorporates using a soft cotton muslin cloth to help gently exfoliate, while cocoa butter chamomile and eucalyptus soothe and tone.

To tone or not to tone- Toning really helps to balance your skins pH before moisturising. Applying a toner can help close pores and tighten cell gaps after cleansing, reducing the penetration of impurities and environmental contaminants into the skin. So whichever way you look at it, toning really is a win win. I love Pixi Glow Tonic £18 which does exactly what it says on the bottle, with 5% glycolic to exfoliate and ginseng to revitslise, it really does leave skin glowing and bright. If you are going to invest in any toner let it be this one.

Moisturistation is Key- When picking a moisturiser for your morning routine, always try and choose one with a built in SPF for all day protection from the sun even in the winter months. At the moment I love The Body Shop Skin defence Multi- Protection Essence SPF50 £17. This moisturiser not only protects against UVA and UVB rays it also has anti-dulness properties, with red algae extract and vitamin C to brighten the complexion for a more luminous complexion. I also find it acts as a great primer base before applying makeup.

You are what you eat- some additions to your breakfast table can be your skins best friend. Choose mangoes for skin loving antioxidants like Beta-carotene and blueberries which are packed with Vitamin K and Vitamin C which are also known for their antioxidant properties and skin brightening benefits. Make a large glass of H20 part of your morning skin care routine too and you will start to see and feel the benefits before you know it.
